Kings Para-Transit Society is a federally registered charity, and has operated under the Nova Scotia Societies Act since 1998. Kings Para-Transit acknowledges the ongoing support of: Service Nova Scotia & Municipal Relations, Municipality of County of Kings, Town of Wolfville, Town of Kentville and Michelin North America (Canada) Inc. It is a community – based accessible transportation service for persons with disabilities, seniors and others in need. KPT has a five-vehicle fleet and a staff of eight.

Through the $400 million Public Transit Fund, Canada’s New Government is supporting investments in public transit infrastructure in cities and communities. Public Transit Funds are allocated to provinces and territories on a per capita basis and support environmental outcomes of cleaner air and lowered greenhouse emissions.

Kings Para-Transit’s mission statement is as follows: “A community-based accessible transportation service for persons with disabilities, seniors and others not served by public transit”.

It is the hope that KPT can reach out to all of those who need accessible transportation to ensure that no one in the community misses out on any activities that they wish to engage in.

Kings Para-Transit has been working hard to improve access to transportation in Kings County and has reached this goal by maintaining a five-vehicle fleet. Among these vehicles are two minibuses which allow for the transportation of multiple passengers at one time and three wheelchair accessible vehicles. Several drivers volunteer to transport clients daily to outline areas (i.e., Halifax, Middleton, etc.) mostly for medical purposes. With these assets, KPT can continue to reach their vision of providing “Accessible transportation for all residents of Kings County”
